ASHIANA and The Educational NGO called SHAHEED MALTA HAKEEM SYED NUSRAT HUSAIN MEMORIAL SOCIETY
Indybindi is a design venture…an artistic outlet by a few talented and driven friends who are passionate about design, colour, funky and creative expressions that has mass appeal and can also help and support a couple of NGOs that have been working tirelessly in the upliftment of the extremely underprivileged-whether its below poverty line families, helpless widows or orphans.
These two NGOs are established in an extremely poor and rural village of Uttar Pradesh which has a population of 35,000 of which more than 80% is living below poverty line. This village is called Kora Jahanabad in the District of Fatehpur.
One NGO is an education society going by the name of Shaheed Malta Hakeem Syed Nusrat Husain Memorial Society which is running a school by the name of Shaheed Malta Muslim Inter College.
This Inter College had been established on the 19th of July 1986 and since then has been giving free education, and providing uniform and books to more than 40% of its poor students.
And even the ones that are paying their fee-it’s a nominal fee of around 50 to 60 rupees per month. This school has never worked for profit-what ever it has earned through the nominal fee has all gone towards paying the salaries of the teachers.
The phone number of this Society is 09919558989.
The other NGO is more of a woman and child centric NGO going by the name of Ashiana that was registered in 2009. But even before it had been registered, the couple behind Ashiana has been for years giving financial aid to families that don’t even have money to buy their rations with their ration cards!
A blind couple, a number of old and alone-men and women who’ve been abandoned or sick with cancer or T.B. have all been given financial aid as well as blankets, shawls and woollens by the couple behind Ashiana, years before it was even registered.
Ashiana has since then been organizing art competitions, embroidery and doll making classes as well as it has been working towards making the women in the village self employed by giving the sewing machines and sewing classes, weaving classes and also is hoping establish a blanket and durrie making unit as well as a flour mill so that the women and girls get gainfully employed. Ashiana also plans on making shelters for abandoned women and children and widows and also to provide them with employment in these units so that they can be self sufficient
Early this year on 26 January,2011, Ashiana gave gifts and honoured more than 20 women and girls of the village who have worked tirelessly against all odds to get education or to rear their family with no help and support from anyone. Ashiana is also arranging for eye camps as well as health camps for cancer and T.B patients in the village in the coming month.
The phone number of Ashiana is 09919378799
Indybindi is the result of these few friends who believe in the hopes and aspirations of the people behind Ashiana and Shaheed Malta School and want to help them to reach a wider audience and garner financial help as well as gainfully employ these men, women and children in their design ventures.
